HCM Research Cited in USA Today & The Hechinger Report

As the U.S. Supreme Court deliberates on the constitutionality of affirmative action policies in college admissions—a decision many expect will overturn the policy—reporter Jon Marcus recently published an exhaustive look at the still-growing racial inequities among college-going students, appearing in both USA Today and The Hechinger Report. Titled “The college-going gap between Black and white Americans was always bad. It’s getting worse.”, HCM’s managing director Martha Snyder was interviewed for the piece that included mentions of our Level UP call to action for Black learner excellence, and data from our public opinion research with EDGE Research:

Black high school students who didn’t go to college or dropped out are more likely to say they want to go, or go back, than similar white students – 50% to 42%, respectively – according to focus groups convened by Edge Research and HCM Strategists for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
